A new project with the fantastic pianist Gary Versace. Exploring some contrapuntal pieces, plus some new concert music that incorporates improvisation. Gary brought a great arrangement of Charlie Parker's "Red Cross", and decided to take on Monk's "Boo Boo's Birthday"...

So happy to have been awarded a grant from the John Stites Jazz awards to pursue studies in counterpoint. I am starting a large writing project in the Fall, and these studies are in support of that. So grateful to this incredible, grass-roots organization. JSJA does...
